ATX Hack for Change is Austin’s response to the National Day of Civic Hacking, a White House initiative started in 2013 to inspire citizens to come together and improve their communities. Since 2013, ATX Hack For Change has brought people together to tackle the unique issues facing our weird city, as Austin’s culture thrives on being cutting edge, and Austin itself is viewed nationally as a city of vast untapped potential.
ATX Hack for Change is hosted each year by St. Edward's University in partnership with Open Austin, the City of Austin and Google Fiber. Our one-of-a-kind civic hackathon aims to provide the community with resourceful projects that will have a lasting, positive impact.
We welcome attendees from every corner of Austin: any industry, any sector, every neighborhood, all experience levels. This event is for anyone and everyone who cares about sharing their skills with Austin and their community. (Though we do require hackers be 16+.)
