Texas Health Care Summit: Health Today, Health Care Tomorrow

  • LBJ School of Public Affairs| Bass Lecture Hall 2315 Red River Street Austin, TX, 78712 United States (map)

Dean Clay Johnson, MD, PhD will speak during the summit sponsored by the National Coalition on Heath Care and the Center for Health and Social Policy at The University of Texas at Austin. The forum will focus on what research says about three major challenges:

  • Children’s health care and health, including the lifelong impacts of adverse childhood experiences and the early onset of chronic diseases
  • The changing demographics of the patient population in Texas and nationally
  • Social determinants of health that contribute to the rising incidence of chronic conditions

We will then examine policy options and advances in practice to address these challenges, including:

  • Improvements in the delivery and coordination of care
  • Better integration of medical care and social services
  • Advanced payment models and reforms in the structure and rules of private insurance and social insurance programs
  • Advances in medical education to prepare physicians and other providers for the challenges ahead

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast will be provided. Space is limited, and registration is required.
